Kaspersky is Kaput

If you’re using Kaspersky anti-virus, you might have noticed it’s not there anymore, and now you see something called UltraAV on your system.
Since Kaspersky is no longer allowed to be sold or updated in the U.S. (because they are a Russian company), they’ve closed their U.S. offices which is understandable, BUT without notifying anyone they had their software self-uninstall and they replaced it with something called UltraAV, which we know very little about.
IF you should still have Kaspersky on your computer, uninstall it. If you find UltraAV on your computer, uninstall it. You might also find Kaspersky or UltraAV VPN software, uninstall that as well.
For nine years I’ve been saying all you need is the BUILT-IN anti-virus build into Windows call Windows Defender. When you remove the current anti-virus Windows Defender will automatically turn itself on.
I’ve always said there is no anti-virus software anywhere that will protect you from yourself. If you’re careless, you’ll get infected. If you want to stay safe, DON’T click on links and DON’T open attachments in email unless you know who it’s from AND YOU’RE EXPECTING IT. If a scary screen pops up on your computer saying you’re infected and to call a phone number, DON’T (you’re not infected, it’s a lie).
If you’re ever not sure what to do, call me – that’s why I’m here.
